I Sat on a Bench
I sat on a bench in the sea of humanity
And the water of life flowed by.
Some of it laughed and some of it cried,
But all of it flowed on by.
I sat on a bench in the sea of
humanity,
Where the water of life is pride.
Some of it laughed and some of it cried,
But all of it flowed on by.
I sat on a bench in the sea of
humanity,
And the water of life flowed by.
Some was profanity; all was vanity,
And all of it flowed on by.
I sat on a bench in the sea of
humanity,
Gauging the flow and the tide.
Some was insanity; all was inanity;
I lowered my eyes and cried.
