On Guilt

What is guilt but a gnawing at our souls
For that which was but should not have been?
If that which was should not have been,
Then guilt quite rightfully occurs,
There can be no cause without effect,
Nor effect without a cause.
There is nothing that is that has no purpose,
If the purpose be but to be.
If whatever makes manifest is light,
Then light is meant to see.
Guilt is the light by which we see
The cause and effect of our sins.
If effect and cause can be,
Purpose then must be too.
If light is meant to see,
And guilt is meant to be,
Then we are meant to see
The cause and effect of our sins.
If we are meant to see,
Can we then but look?
See?
